Why I Teach at St. Michael School I chose to teach at St. Michael School, because it is a small faith-based community that integrates the love of teaching academics that is infused with my faith-based values. I am excited to continue my teaching journey in this faith filled community.
My Philosophy of Teaching I am a teacher who loves to captivate my students' love of learning through engaging lessons and activities, while ensuring that each child is learning to the best of his or her potential. My goal is to help every child be engaged in learning by thinking differently and discovering his or her creative potential. Most importantly, inspiring him or her to be internally motivated, within a caring atmosphere in which he or she has compassion for others. I also work hard to help each child feel welcomed and loved each day as he or she walks into my classroom.
My Background I started my education journey by earning a Bachelor’s degree from Cal State University East Bay. I then went on to get a Multi-Subject Teaching Credential from Patten University and a Master’s Degree in Catholic School Teaching from USF. My teaching experience began at St. Theresa School in 1999 as the first grade teacher. While at St. Theresa School, I was on the leadership team, a student council moderator, and mentored many teachers in K and 2nd grade. I served as the first grade teacher leader on the Curriculum Committee for the Diocese of Oakland. In addition, I have also served on a WCEA accreditation team. I have been teaching at St. Michael School since 2021. I am currently on the leadership team and am a mentor teacher.
My Life Outside St. Michael When I am not teaching first grade, you can find me baking, reading, crafting or making puzzles. I love to travel and go on adventures. I also love spending time with my family, friends, and my rescue dog!
